Liang Qichao is a latter-day enlightening Bourgeois thinker, political activist and academician who left a great number of works. He bought a land of about 4 mu in Xima Road of Italian Settlement in the firsr years of the Republic of China and built a residence on it in 1914. Then in 1924 a study- Ice Drinking Room was built, now situated in No. 46 Minzu Road, Hebei District. The study is connected with the residence, which is a gray two-storied villa, where Mr. Liang carried out his writing in his late days.
On April 18th 2003, Liang Qichao Memorial composed of Liang Qichao Former Residence and “Ice Drinking Room” was opened. It covers an area of 2,500 square meters. It includes more than a hundred photos and writings in the exhibition of “Liang Qichao and latter-day China”. “Ice Drinking Room”, after recovery, presents the environment of the studying, living and working in his living days.
